Welcome back for another edition of Ask The Experts!  Let’s tackle social media with this post.  A growing request has been for photos to be uploaded to social media sites such as Facebook directly from the photo booth, the instant that the photos are taken.  Can ShutterBox do this?  YES.  Do we suggest that you do this?  NO!  Let us explain.

We do agree that this is a unique addition to the photo booth experience however after 4 hours of open bar, even your most conservative guests can produce pictures worthy of having your facebook account permanently suspended.  Not to mention the embarrassment caused for that guest who would not approve of that picture being available for everyone to see online.

For corporate events and brand activations, you are leaving your brand open to harm caused by the choices that someone who has no affiliation with your brand decides to do behind a closed curtain.

We do strongly believe that the social media aspect of the photo booth is great for social parties, corporate events and brand activations, however we caution our clients on posting instantly and suggest that all photos pass through a set of eyes prior to going online.  Please feel free to contact us regarding our best practices for online photos.

Welcome to our first blog post in our newly created “Photo Booth Experts” category!  Posts in this section are meant to be interactive with you and encourage your participation with questions and suggestions in the comments section.  ShutterBox Entertainment takes part in well over 1,500 special events every year, producing well over 450,000 photo strips per year.  Being a part of that many events every year gives us an amazing insight to events of all types and budgets.  We would like to share our experiences with you, especially those interesting and unique new trends, old trends, must haves and have you seen moments!

We’ll start off this new section with an excerpt from our last newsletter.  Are you contemplating adding a prop box to your photo booth?  We get the question all the time, are props really necessary?  A prop box offers your guests a unique opportunity to get crazy at your event.  Whether hats, glasses, wigs, boas or mustaches, a prop box will ensure that your guests photos are truly unique.  Ultimately this decision is up to the the party hosts, but here are some statistics based on ShutterBox’s experience.  Approximately 40% of ShutterBox reservations include an order for a prop box.  During those events roughly 50% of your guests will use the prop box.  Our suggestion is that props are not for every event, however at ShutterBox’s low rate of $50, you just may make that guests’ night who is expecting it!
